


ArmInfo. A program to protect the Lake Sevan ecosystem is being implemented in Armenia with financial support from the Asian Development Bank. This was announced by RA Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan at a hearing of the National Assembly committees on June 12.
According to him, the total cost of the project is approximately $270 million. An action plan has been developed as part of the project, which includes installing 42 wastewater treatment plants for the lake, modernizing three existing plants, and constructing a 1,030-kilometer waste disposal network. The minister noted that full-scale studies of the lake's flora and fauna have also been conducted.
25 million drams have been allocated to quantify the fish stocks in Lake Sevan. Following the 2025 estimate, the whitefish catch volume was set at 1,123 tons, 436 tons more than the 2024 catch. Approximately 72 million drams were received for fishing permits.
