ArmInfo.RA Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan declined to comment on the violation of current legislation by the country's law enforcement agencies, who arrested two candidates for the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia without permission from the Central Electoral Commission.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that during the preliminary investigation of a criminal case concerning the material interest of multiple individuals and large-scale money laundering, two candidates for parliament from the Strong Armenia bloc were identified, and pretrial detention was imposed against them. Meanwhile, according to the RA Electoral Code, a candidate for parliament cannot be subject to criminal liability, detained, or arrested without the consent of the Central Electoral Commission.
In a conversation with reporters, the minister noted that both the Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Committee are much more familiar with the situation than she is and therefore cannot comment on the situation.
Responding to a question about when the draft of the new Constitution would be published, Galyan stated that it would happen within the next few weeks. According to her, the issue of publishing the document had been discussed within the ruling Civil Contract party the day before.
"I think that the document will be published soon after it has been summarized. We are awaiting the opinions of some of our colleagues. We will need another week or two to summarize them. After that, we will hold one or two more discussions and decide whether we are ready to publish the text or not," Galyan said, adding that the draft document has not yet been made public precisely because not all participants in the process have had time to fully familiarize themselves with its contents.
It is worth noting that back in March 2026, Galyan stated that work on the new Constitution was complete. At the same time, she claimed that it would be published by the end of that month.
