
ArmInfo.As of 8:00 PM on June 7, 59 criminal cases have been opened by the Investigative Committee of Armenia for alleged election-related violations. This was reported by the agency's press service.
Of the total number of criminal cases, 43 were initiated by regional investigative units, and 16 by Yerevan investigative units.
Specifically, nine criminal cases were opened for obstructing the exercise of the right to participate in elections, the activities of election commissions, or the exercise of the rights and obligations of election participants.
Thirty criminal cases were initiated for voting more than once or on behalf of another person, 17 cases were opened for violating the secrecy of the ballot, and three criminal cases were opened for disseminating knowingly false information about terrorism.
Nine individuals were detained as part of the investigation into these cases.
As a reminder, regular parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7. At 8:00 AM local time, 2,500 polling stations opened across the country. Most were equipped with surveillance cameras. Eighteen political forces-two blocs and 16 parties-participated in the elections. Turnout was 58.97%, or 1,476,597 citizens. According to the Central Election Commission of Armenia, 647 international observers from the OSCE/ODIHR, the CIS, PACE, the International Organization of La Francophonie, and others monitored the parliamentary elections in Armenia. In addition, more than 2,600 observers from 13 local organizations participated. Around 250 local and foreign media outlets have been accredited to cover the elections.
