ArmInfo. Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan has not ruled out the possibility that Armenian citizens arriving from Russia to participate in the upcoming elections could be served summonses for mandatory military training camps.
"How can I rule that out? Does an Armenian citizen who has arrived from Russia and is liable for military service have no obligations to the Fatherland? Naturally, I cannot rule this out," Papikyan stated during a conversation with journalists.
When asked whether citizens arriving from France or the United States would also be sent to the training camps, the Minister assured that this requirement applies to all citizens liable for military service. At the same time, the Minister refuted reports claiming that notifications for the training camps are being served directly at border checkpoints. "There is an established procedure for serving summons. Notification is generally carried out in accordance with this standard protocol They can't give a summons to anyone at the airport," Papikyan said.
