ArmInfo. Russian Foreign Minister during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, at the direction of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sergey Lavrov officially informed the American side of Russia's retaliatory actions against Ukraine.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry's press service, Lavrov informed the American side that the Russian Armed Forces are launching systematic and consistent strikes against facilities in Kyiv used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as against the relevant decision-making centers.
Lavrov drew attention to the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement of May 25, which recommended that the United States, along with other states with missions in Kyiv, ensure the evacuation of their diplomatic personnel and other citizens from the Ukrainian capital.
"The Minister recalled the agreements reached at the highest level in Anchorage in August 2025, at the US proposal, regarding the Ukrainian conflict and expressed regret that the brazen efforts of the European elites and the Kyiv regime are undermining these agreements, which paved the way for a sustainable, long- term settlement based on a balance of interests," the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement continued.
It added that the heads of the foreign ministries exchanged assessments of diplomatic initiatives to resolve the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the situation around Cuba, and reaffirmed their mutual commitment, despite known differences, to intensify efforts to normalize the working conditions of Russian and US diplomatic missions in each other's territories.
Notably, the conversation took place on the eve of Rubio's short visit to Yerevan, where he is scheduled to meet with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
