ArmInfo. Armenia failed to qualify for the Eurovision final for the third time. Young performer Simon, who placed sixth in the semi-final with the song Paloma Rumba, failed to score enough points to advance to the final.
The song for Simon was written by composer Lilit Navasardyan, known for writing several entries for the competition in previous years, including "LoveWave" for Iveta Mukuchyan in 2016 and "Not Alone" for Aram MP3 in 2014. The lyrics were written by Rosa Linn, Armenia's representative at Eurovision 2022, David Tserunyan, and Eva Voskanyan. The composition was produced by Lilit Navasardyan and David Tserunyan.
Although Armenia's participation ended in the semi-final, Simon's performance left a lasting impression. The young artist delivered a confident and energetic performance, harmoniously combining vocals, expressive choreography, and stage presence. Simon's number was distinguished by its dynamics, free stage expression, and charisma, which allowed him to represent Armenia with dignity on the international stage. It's also worth noting that his performance was fully in keeping with the spirit of Eurovision.
As a reminder, prior to 2026, Armenia had only failed to qualify for the Eurovision final in 2011 and 2018. In 2011, Emma Mikaelyan represented the country with the song "Boom Boom," which placed 12th in the semi-final. In 2018, Armenia was represented by Sevak Khanagyan with the song "Qami," which placed 15th in the semi-final. It should be noted that the Eurovision 2026 final will feature Moldova, Sweden, Israel, Belgium, Greece, Poland, Lithuania, Finland, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Malta, Norway, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Australia, Cyprus, Albania, as well as the five founding countries of the contest - France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom - and this year's host country, Austria. The final will take place on May 16.
