ArmInfo. Legendary Artsakh intelligence officer, holder of the Second Degree "Battle Cross" Order, and head of the "Strong Armenia" security team, Artur Avanesyan (Kandaz), has been arrested for two months by decision of the Anti-Corruption Court. This was announced by lawyer Aram Vardevanyan in the courthouse.
"The Anti-Corruption Court has decided to arrest Avanesyan, better known as Kandaz, for two months," Vardevanyan said.
On April 27, the Anti-Corruption Committee announced that Avanesyan and several others had been detained in connection with an election bribery case. According to the statement, the case was initiated based on wiretaps of Avanesyan's communications. This isn't the first time opposition figures have been detained based on wiretap recordings. And there's no information yet on whether these arrests were carried out legally, after receiving court approval, or whether they were carried out in violation of the law.
