French PM  honors Armenian Genocide victims 

ArmInfo.  On the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu delivered a speech in Marseille, a city known for its role as a sanctuary for those fleeing the 1915  atrocities.

During his speech, he recalled the tragedy that  occurred 111 years  ago annihilated the Armenian people, describing the massacres of  entire villages, rapes, deportations, and executions of the Armenian  population.

The Prime Minister considered it necessary to acknowledge the role  France played in countering the catastrophe. He mentioned several key  figures and events. Lecornu emphasized that Marseille opened its arms  to 58,000 Armenian refugees, whose descendants still live in the  region.
