ArmInfo. Greek President Konstantinos Tassoulas has issued a statement on the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
In his address, posted on the Greek President's website, he emphasized that Armenia and Greece are bound by eternal ties forged through shared trials, as well as strong relationships of solidarity, friendship, and mutual respect. "Today, on the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire, one of the most heinous crimes against humanity, we honor the memory of 1.5 million victims," the Greek President noted, adding that this memory constitutes an unwavering duty both to the victims and to historical truth, so that oblivion does not become a cause of revisionism, violence, and intolerance.
Konstantinos Tassoulas stated that in today's international context, characterized by crises, conflicts, and uncertainty, a commitment to peace, mutual understanding, and cooperation among peoples is even more important. "Historical memory requires constant vigilance so that the tragic events of history are never repeated," Konstantinos Tassoulas concluded.
