ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes that attempts to bring perpetrators of war crimes on Armenian sovereign territory to justice are a path to a new war.
Pashinyan expressed this stance on April 23 in a conversation with journalists following a government meeting in response to a question about whether Armenia would seek to prosecute, including the top leadership of Azerbaijan, for war crimes committed on Armenian sovereign territory.
According to Pashinyan, the tip of the trident is sharp, and he does not want to look the Armenian people in the eye and lie. "There are narratives and there are facts, but we must understand what we're talking about. And this is a trap we can't escape. I believe this is a trap we must escape. We must free our future generations from this burden. As much as we accuse, we are accused in return. We must understand what we're doing, and this is a strategic deal," Pashinyan stated.
He noted that the issue at hand is conflict, and continuing down this road means entering a path where conflict and war are inevitable. "This is the path to the resurgence of conflict," he assured.
Pashinyan also admitted that he does not intend to raise the issue of the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage in the occupied territories of Artsakh in international forums. "We must be cautious in these matters, because the trident is sharp. I don't think we, at the state level, will make this issue a subject of discussion on international platforms. And this is a situation that we must fully understand," Pashinyan concluded. .
