ArmInfo. No unfreezing of Armenia's CSTO membership is expected. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in a conversation with journalists after a government meeting.
The Armenian prime minister recalled that the ruling Civil Contract party's election platform clearly states that their political team will not take specific steps to intensify work within the CSTO. "That is, no thawing is expected. Whether we will withdraw from the CSTO de jure or de facto is another matter, I cannot say. We will act according to the situation," Pashinyan said.
As a reminder, Armenia has been boycotting CSTO events since the end of 2022. In February 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that Armenia had effectively frozen its participation in the CSTO, as the organization had failed to fulfill its obligations to Armenia, which would inevitably have consequences. And on September 18, 2024, at the Second World Armenian Summit, Pashinyan declared that the CSTO posed threats to Armenia's security, its continued existence, sovereignty, and statehood.
