ArmInfo. Sarkis Karapetyan, son of businessman, leader, and founder of the "Strong Armenia" party Samvel Karapetyan, called on French President Emmanuel Macron to meet with Samvel Karapetyan, the "Strong Armenia" bloc's candidate for prime minister, during his visit to Yerevan.
In his video message to Macron, he stated, in part: "You are coming to Armenia at the invitation of a man you call your friend, but who is an enemy of the Armenian people. Nikol Pashinyan is not who he presents himself to the international community, deceiving and hiding behind democratic values. He has plunged the country into legal chaos, attacking our church, the diaspora, and his political opponents. Before the elections, you are giving him another opportunity to deceive the Armenian people. This meeting is pointless, because in two months, Samvel Karapetyan will become Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. He is under house arrest. If democratic values are important to you, we invite you to meet with him."
As a reminder, on March 27, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced the completion of the criminal investigation into the businessman on charges of tax evasion, money laundering, and large-scale embezzlement. He is also accused of calling for the seizure of power. The businessman was arrested in June 2025 after making statements in defense of the Armenian Church. Last December, Samvel Karapetyan's pretrial detention was changed to house arrest.
