ArmInfo.By isolating the leader of the Strong Armenia party Samvel Karapetyan, and abusing administrative resources, the Armenian authorities are attempting to prevent inevitable change, as stated by Robert Amsterdam, founder and managing partner of Amsterdam & Partners LLP and lawyer for the Strong Armenia party leader, in a video message posted on his Facebook page.
He recalled that on April 17, Karapetyan's house arrest was extended for an additional three months. Amsterdam expressed his conviction that such a decision only demonstrates the instability and fear of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's administration. "In this way, they want to limit Karapetyan's ability to go out on the streets to engage with Armenian voters and give Armenia the hope it so desperately needs today," the international lawyer emphasized. Amsterdam pointed out that, in essence, Karapetyan has no opportunity to campaign, which limits his chances in the race. And all these actions, the lawyer recalled, occurred after the party leader spoke out in defense of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), which was attacked by Pashinyan. "The Armenian Prime Minister is also spreading false narratives about the Strong Armenia party. Pashinyan is attempting to use all the administrative resources at his disposal to avoid losing the election. To this end, he also intends to involve the police, and then attempt to justify all these actions as a hallmark of democracy in the country, with the silent consent of the European Union (EU)," Amsterdam emphasized.
The international lawyer recalled that they had already appealed to the EU and would continue to do so, highlighting their bias. "This shameful behavior must be strongly condemned by the international community, not encouraged or suppressed. This message will be conveyed to both Washington and Brussels," Amsterdam assured.
In conclusion, he urged the Armenian people to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026, and vote to remove Pashinyan from power.
