ArmInfo. In the South Caucasus region, an inertial approach to events in Iran is evident, and this inertia is more noticeable in Georgia, less so in Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Russian Iran expert Karine Gevorkyan at the conference "The Near and Middle East: Challenges and Prospects."
As the expert noted, the world is currently undergoing rapid change. Tensions and coalition pressure surrounding Iran have not yet fully impacted the South Caucasus. However, Gevorkyan continued, against this backdrop, Azerbaijan's activity is creating dangerous areas on Iran's northwestern borders. The recent large-scale Turkish-Azerbaijani exercises in Nakhchivan are clear evidence of this.
In Armenian society, in light of the events in the Middle East, debates are raging about "who is better." Meanwhile, given global processes, no external power is "best." "Armenia should be guided solely by its own interests," the Iran expert emphasized.
