ArmInfo. The 17 supporters of the Strong Armenia party, who were forcibly detained by police, have no status yet; no official protocols have been filed against them. Marianna Ghahramanyan, press secretary for the Strong Armenia party, made this statement in a conversation with journalists.
According to Ghahramanyan, the supporters-who were detained outside the Anti-Corruption Court during a hearing for party leader Samvel Karapetyan-have been in "illegal detention" for over two and a half hours. "The arrests, as well as the events that occurred days earlier, confirm our assertions that the Armenian authorities are in a panic, they are frightened. This tool (arrests - ed.) has become a toy in their hands, which they are trying to use as a method of pressure," Ghahramanyan stated.
As previously reported, 17 people were detained following clashes between supporters of Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan and police outside the Anti-Corruption Court. Journalists were also reportedly injured in the brawl. It should be noted that the hearing will prioritize the businessman's pretrial detention.
