"A sign of weakness": Strong Armenia slams detention of party member  Gohar Gumashyan

ArmInfo.Following the detention of Strong Armenia party member Gohar Ghumashyan, law  enforcement authorities have also detained another party representative, Verzhine Stepanyan, who was responsible for the Strong Armenia office in Vayk.

Marianna Ghahramanyan, the spokesperson of the party, informed reporters during a briefing. She  stated that, according to available information, Stepanyan and her lawyer are being questioned at the Investigative Committee in Yeghegnadzor.

The reasons for the detention, Ghahramanyan noted, remain unknown.  "We can say one thing: this is political persecution, an attempt by  the authorities to exert pressure on us, including through the women  members of our party. However, I have bad news for them: our women  are not afraid of persecution, just like Strong Armenia. We regard  what is happening as yet another manifestation of the authorities'  weakness," she stated.

Ghahramanyan also recalled that Gohar Ghumashyan is a mother of many children, her youngest child being less than two months old, while Verzhine Stepanyan has two minor children.
