ArmInfo. The National Assembly of Armenia discussed draft amendments to the law "On State Duty" in its second reading at its plenary session on April 14.
Alfred Kocharyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, noted that the proposed legal provisions aim to align cultural asset export processes with EAEU standards. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the amendments in the draft law intend to establish clearer and more measurable procedures for the export of cultural assets. The proposal includes the introduction of new types of state duties for cultural asset export procedures.
Specifically, the draft law suggests differentiating state duties levied by customs authorities for cultural assets. The base price for a single item has been set at 10,000 drams, and for two or more items it is 15,000 drams. According to the deputy minister, the adoption of the draft law and its implementation will have a positive impact on the business and investment environment, given that the proposed provisions will streamline customs formalities. Furthermore, the proposed legal norms aim to align with the regulations of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
