ArmInfo. The Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran resumed its activities on April 12.
According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the embassy will initially operate with a limited number of diplomatic and administrative staff, including the ambassador.
It is noted that, taking into account security and organizational issues, a gradual adjustment of the embassy's activities is planned.
"The resumption of the work of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran shortly after the cessation of hostilities and the announcement of a two-week ceasefire is clear evidence of the special importance Azerbaijan attaches to relations with neighboring and friendly Iran. Our country reaffirms its support for initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable peace and stability in the region," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
As a reminder, on March 5, Azerbaijan announced that four Iranian drones had attacked Nakhchivan. In response, the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. Moreover, on the same day, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev convened the country's Security Council and decided to rattle his sabre in front of Iran. As usual, Aliyev threatened Azerbaijan with an "iron fist," labeling the incident terrorism, and promised a proportionate response. And on March 6, Azerbaijani authorities announced the evacuation of their diplomats from Iran. Interestingly, all of these actions occurred after Iran, at the level of the Foreign Ministry and the General Staff, had already denied any involvement in the attack on the Nakhchivan airport.
