ArmInfo. There is no news regarding the release of Armenian captives from Baku, as stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart, Margus Tsahkna in Yerevan on April 10.
The Armenian Foreign Minister noted that Yerevan's position on this issue has not changed and that the established peace requires institutionalization. "Peace exists, and we are reaping its fruits, but we also understand that it needs to be preserved. There are issues that have been resolved, including the transit of goods through Azerbaijani territory and bilateral trade, which already exists and we hope will develop. Unfortunately, there are also unresolved issues, and the issue you mentioned is the most sensitive for our society. Unfortunately, there are prisoners and detainees in Baku. Our position remains unchanged: they must be released as soon as possible, and their release will only strengthen peace," the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated, adding that the dialogue with the Azerbaijani side is ongoing and this issue is always at the forefront of their attention.
Mirzoyan added that this issue is also at the forefront of their attention during meetings with international partners. He acknowledged that the withdrawal of the International Committee of the Red Cross from Azerbaijan has complicated the situation. "The problem exists, efforts are ongoing, but there is no news yet," the Armenian Foreign Minister said, noting that the only news that could be is the release of a new group of Armenian captives.
