ArmInfo. The head of the delegation of the Max Foundation Pat Garcia-Gonzalez presented opportunities for expanding existing cooperation at a meeting with the Minister of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of Armenia, in this regard, during the meeting, the head of the delegation spoke about the upcoming plans of the organization in the country.
In turn, Avanesyan noted that the fight against cancer is one of the key priorities of the Ministry and emphasized the importance of interaction with international partners in this area.
As recalled by the Ministry, since the beginning of cooperation through the Max Foundation, about 800 patients with malignant blood diseases and solid tumors have received expensive medications free of charge, and currently 500 patients are using the program.
During their visit, the Foundation's delegation also visited the Yolyan National Center for Hematology and Oncology, where they were introduced to the operating conditions of the new blood bank and visited the bone marrow transplant department.
The National Statistical Committee of Armenia does not publish any data on the number of people suffering from cancer in the country.
