ArmInfo.Minister of the Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, touched upon the progress of the implementation of the Armenian-Turkish agreements in an interview with the Turkish TV channel TRT World.
"A lot has been done, a lot is being discussed, we have agreed on some issues, but they have not yet been implemented: for example, opening the border to third-country citizens and citizens of Armenia and Turkey with diplomatic passports. This has been agreed upon, but, unfortunately, has not yet been implemented.
We hope this will happen soon. There are other confidence-building measures on which we have reached agreement: for example, the restoration of the historical Ani Bridge. This is a process we are going through, but it is also time to see tangible results on the ground," he said.
Answering a question about how he views trade between Armenia and Turkey, the Foreign Minister said that the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border and the development of trade relations are directly related.
"We can discuss which will influence the other more, but I believe that if we open the border, business ties will begin to develop independently. I have the impression that we have such leadership, political will on both sides, and if we take the final steps, open the border, then economic ties will develop and find their way," Ararat Mirzoyan noted.
