ArmInfo. Armenia remains committed to its previously announced position and the agenda of achieving peace with Azerbaijan. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated at a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart in Yerevan on March 7. The Minister also added that he informed his Cypriot counterpart about the latest process to normalize Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
In this regard, the Armenian minister pointed to a number of key principles in the normalization of relations, including mutual recognition of territorial integrity and border delimitation in accordance with the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991.
He recalled that the two countries at the highest level have repeatedly confirmed their commitment to implementing agreements in accordance with the principles of this declaration, including in Prague, Sochi and Brussels.
"We believe that the establishment of peace in our region based on this principle will be productive for the countries of the region not only from a political point of view, but also from an economic one. It is based on this principle that we presented the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, according to which all regional infrastructures will be opened.
Of course, the opening of routes should be based on respecting the sovereignty and equality of both countries, and all agreements should be mutual," Mirzoyan said, adding that negotiations between the parties are continuing, and as soon as there is news, it will be reported.
