ArmInfo. The office of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan responded to the next statements of the Prime Minister of Armenia about the negotiating legacy on resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"Yesterday, the Prime Minister voiced another batch of repeatedly repeated lies about the negotiation process. Although we are pretty tired of refuting obvious lies every time, still, as a reminder, below we will give links to what has already been said many times. No matter how the Prime Minister dodges, responsibility for the lost war and the complete exodus of Armenians from Artsakh is on his conscience.
Unfortunately, conscience does not torment those who should be tormented, but those who have it," said Bagrat Mikoyan, head of the Office of the Second President.
On December 19, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia, assured that all options for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue that were "on the table," starting with the Madrid principles, presupposed a "non-resolution" of the conflict.
According to him, there was never an option in the negotiation process that would offer a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. "There was no document, after the signing of which, it would be considered that the Karabakh conflict was resolved. There was only one option in 1999, if signed, it could be said that the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh was resolved. This was the option of exchanging the Meghri region (Syunik region of Armenia, ed. note) and Nagorno-Karabakh. This was the only way to close the issue. In other words, Meghri region would be handed over to Azerbaijan, and Nagorno Karabakh would be joined to Armenia.
According to the prime minister, this was done deliberately so that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue could be used as a cudgel against Armenia, and possibly Azerbaijan.
