ArmInfo. "PH International, in cooperation with the Eurasia University, has announced the launch of the Civic Education Center initiative at the university.
The center has been founded with the sponsorship of the USAID Inclusive Civic Education (ICE).
The goal of the initiative is to create an enabling environment for the development of civic knowledge, social and technical abilities of youth, as well as their meaningful and sustainable participation in government decision-making.
Rector of the Eurasian University Suren Ohanyan pointed out the importance of the values and ideas of the civic education center created under the roof of their university, which will contribute to the building of civil society.
"Youth are the driving force of civil society, and the young people gathered here, our students, will build a democratic, established and educated civil society," Ohanyan said.
In turn, the director of the Armenian branch of PH International, project manager Mariam Martirosyan noted that their key goal is to equip young people with important skills, knowledge and information in order to increase their participation in public decisions.
As part of the project, since last week, on December 12, similar centers began to work at Shirak State University named after Mikael Nalbandyan and Vanadzor State University named after Hovhannes Tumanyan, and in the coming months three more centers will begin their work at the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovyan, and also in Vayots Dzor and Syunik.
The format and content of these centers are based on the experience of a similar project launched in 2020 by PH International at the Ijevan branch of YSU in close partnership with the university and with financial support from the US government, which has so far effectively served hundreds of young people.
The goal of the Civic Education and Participation program is to improve the quality of formal and non- formal civic education in Armenia to promote public participation and democratic processes among youth in Armenia.
The Civic Education and Participation program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development and implemented by PH International and its subgrantees NGO International Center for Human Development, NGO Armenian Center for Democratic Education - Civitas, and SNCO National Center for Educational Technologies.
