ArmInfo. The fussy activity of the West around Armenian- Azerbaijani relations is beginning to cause justified concerns of a new aggravation in the South Caucasus. This was stated by tChairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, former Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Grigory Karasin.
He noted that "European politicians, especially the French ones, are actively discussing Caucasian issues with Washington."
"Everything has been mixed up with the Ukrainian scenario and leads to quite alarming ideas. There is talk about some kind of independent international mission in Nagorno-Karabakh. But the presence of Russian peacekeepers there causes them "concern". It seems that the Western collective is again taking a dangerous turn," Karasin wrote in his Telegram channel.
Earlier the US State Department, commenting on the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh against the backdrop of the exodus of the entire Armenian population, stated that they were still concerned about the Russian presence there. Moreover, the United States continues to insist on the need to introduce an international mission to Nagorno-Karabakh.
On October 3 in Yerevan, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna also pointed out the need to strengthen the mandate of the EU mission in Armenia and expand its presence. She also accused Russia of inaction against the background of what is happening in Artsakh.
