ArmInfo.in Brussels, Armenia and Azerbaijan recognized each other's territorial integrity of 29.8 thousand sq. km and 86.6 thousand sq. km., respectively. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on May 18 at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, touching upon the results of his visit to Brussels.
On May 14, the fifth meeting of the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan was held in Brussels. NATO stated that the results of the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Brussels mediated by the European Union are encouraging, and Charles Michel noted that "the exchange of views was frank, open and result-oriented."
Pashinyan considers the recognition of each other's territorial integrity an important step towards establishing stability and peace in the region. This will also make it possible to finalize the text of the peace treaty. The next step should be to identify the foundation for the formation of a delimitation commission.
The head of the RA Cabinet of Ministers drew attention to the fact that the statement of the head of the European Council Charles Michel, published after the meeting, emphasized the importance of the dialogue between Stepanakert and Baku for ensuring the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh under the coordination of the international community. The prime minister considers this an important process for long-term peace with Azerbaijan. "Consequently, this will speed up the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Pashinyan concluded.
