ArmInfo. Commissions of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly are holding meetings in Yerevan.
In her opening speech, Maria Karapetyan, Head of Armenia's delegation to Euronest, welcomed the Joint meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy and of the Committee on Energy Security. The meeting participants approved the agenda and started discussions. One of the key issues on the agenda is Russia's building up its military presence on the border with Ukraine.
Co-President of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Andrius Kubilius stated that they are opposing the post-imperial ambitions resulting in aggressive actions. According to him, the Russian people are against the Russian leadership's policy as they are losing their own future.
The European Union has stated its position on the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics.
The speakers were severely critical of Russia's actions and called for radical steps to check Russia. According to them, Russia's actions are a threat to European security. They expressed their full support to Ukraine.
