ArmInfo. The latest appeal of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs is quite logically addressed to Azerbaijan. This conviction is due to the statement made by Armenia immediately after the autumn war on the need for steps and actions of the OSCE Minsk Group towards a final settlement of the conflict.
The chairman of the Public Council of Armenia Stepan Safaryan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
On April 14, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs issued a statement in which they gave their assessment of the situation in the region and voiced several appeals to the parties to the Nagorno - Karabakh conflict. "Yerevan has officially stated that the conflict is not resolved, since its military solution cannot be considered a solution. Accordingly, discussions on the status of Artsakh and other related issues should continue. In the light of the formation of such an agenda by official Yerevan, the content of the latest statement of the co-chairs simply cannot concern Armenia by definition, " he said.
At the same time, according to Safaryan, today the Minsk Group as such does not exist, in light of which, with their statement, the co-chairs are primarily trying to save, in fact, the Minsk format. In his opinion, it is premature to assess the degree of compliance of this trend with the Armenian interests. At the same time, the prospect of the final collapse of the MG, according to his forecasts, will lead to the creation of a regional format for discussing problems. For example, the 3+3 format proposed by Ankara, and reformulated in its own way by Tehran.
Thus, it is the prospect of filling the vacuum that is inevitable in the event of a withdrawal from the OSCE Minsk Group arena with a new format that does not yet exist that encourages the co-chairs, according to Safaryan, to save it. Save yourself, but not the situation around Artsakh, especially Armenia. Since the behavior of the MG during the 44 days of the war demonstrated that its statements do not particularly concern anyone. After that, the resulting situation led to the stopping of the war in fact by Russia. Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan described the statement of the OSCE Minsk Group as a call to Azerbaijan to abandon the destructive policy that will hinder the dialogue between the countries. "The Co-Chairs once again reminded Azerbaijan of the need to implement all the points of the trilateral statement, including the return of prisoners of war. Yerevan has never refused a dialogue with Baku and is ready to make efforts for the final resolution of the conflict, which is possible only if the status of Artsakh is determined on the basis of the realization of the right to self-determination, " the Minister said.
