ArmInfo.Taking into account those statements and interpretations that sound from Baku and Ankara, it is absolutely impossible not to notice the desire of the Azerbaijani and Turkish sides to alter and fill the statement of November 9 between the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia with their own content. Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said this during a round table in Sputnik dedicated to the Karabakh conflict, referring to the likelihood of compliance with the agreements of November 9.
As a clear example of this, the Russian politician cited Ankara's attempts to squeeze into peacekeeping activities in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, immediately after the signing of trilateral agreements. "Although nothing is said about this in the text itself. As I understand it, the monitoring center was some kind of compensation for these insistence of Turkey, which will be located on the territory of Azerbaijan. At the same time, believe me, the struggle continues on the format of this center itself, "the Russian lawmaker noted, recalling that Russia, through the lips of its leader Vladimir Putin, twice explained why the Turks cannot carry out peacekeeping activities in Karabakh, referring to nothing else but historical memory and the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
"It is obvious that after the statements that have already been made by the President of Azerbaijan for the second time about the historical belonging of Yerevan, Zangezur, Sevan, this thought haunts the leadership of Azerbaijan and Ilham Aliyev himself. Can Aliyev not understand the provocative nature of his statements? Of course, he cannot. That is, he is trying today, on the wave of his victory and amid the thunder of the victory parade fanfare, to stake out his next claims. I do not think they are realistic, but they support the spirit of chauvinism and Armenophobia in Azerbaijani society, "the Russian politician stated, citing an example of rhetoric concerning the Armenians, which is contained in the Azerbaijani history textbooks. According to him, the rhetoric that is implanted in Azerbaijani society in relation to neighbors; statements made at the parade in Baku related to Enver Pasha; the idea of the passage of the military in the uniform of soldiers of the Islamic battalion of Nuri Pasha in 1918; a number of other factors call into question the serious attitude towards the prospects of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh living under the jurisdiction of Azerbaijan.
At the same time, Zatulin added that against this background, all the talk about the Christian heritage in Azerbaijan and the 20 thousand Armenians allegedly flourishing in Turkey do not stand up to criticism. According to him, in place of these thousands of Armenians, who supposedly flourish in Turkey, there would be millions now, if there was no genocide. He also recalled the pogroms in Baku, Sumgait and Kirovabad, noting that for some reason the issue of Armenian refugees, who in fact were more than Azerbaijani, was hushed up. "Of course, there is no doubt - the powder must be kept dry. But there are guarantees, in my opinion, that have appeared today and which need to be strengthened in every possible way - this is Russia's intervention directly into the conflict zone with its peacekeeping operation, and of course, the need to draw conclusions from this. I would in no way want to interfere in the internal political processes in Armenia, but it is also obvious that conclusions should be drawn from this defeat in Armenia. It would be, in my opinion, very strange if the whole future of Armenia passed under the sign of excuses and self-justifications those who allowed this defeat, and at the same time intend to cling to power further, "Zatulin said as an example, cited that it would be like if the USSR lost in the Great Patriotic War, but at the same time all the authorities of the Soviet Union would remain in places. In this regard, the Russian politician stated that now he does not see any signs of repentance from the authorities and a desire to take responsibility. "Is it possible, on this basis in Armenia, to restore the spirit, defense capability, economy and so on? It seems to me that it is hardly possible. And the Armenian people in Armenia fully exist and move forward with such neighbors as Turkey and Azerbaijan in an atmosphere of disbelief in their own strengths," lack of trust between different parts of society, society and the government is an absolutely impossible undertaking. Therefore, today, the main issues that must be resolved in Armenia are how and with whom to continue to rebuild the country after suffering a heavy defeat, where the most important thing is not even human and territorial losses, but huge moral damage. That is, from a people who were proud of themselves, the Armenians turned as a result of this defeat into a people who is experiencing the bitterness of humiliation and defeat. The people cannot exist long without negative deep consequences, "Zatulin summed up.
