ArmInfo. It is too early to make assumptions about how the documents came to the media, the investigation should find out. The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan stated this in an interview with reporters on August 8, commenting on an article published yesterday by BBC about events on March 1, 2008, which contains a link to materials and interrogations in this case.
Grigoryan noted that there is no country in the world that could completely eliminate the leak of information and documents, but stated that it would be more correct from a security point of view to prevent this from happening.
However, adding that work is underway to minimize the potential for leakage. To recall, on August 7, an article appeared on the BBC website stating that the publication received exclusive access to the investigation documents of one of the most tragic events in the modern history of Armenia: 10 people died in Yerevan during the March 1, 2008 protests. According to report, the investigation believes that former Minister of Defense of Artsakh, Major General Samvel Karapetyan (Oganovsky), who was being witnessed in the case, was responsible for ordering troops to open fire on protesters. BBC states that according to the documents the major-general's men were temporarily stationed at the basement of the Presidential Palace.
According to the report the detectives are currently investigating a possible role of Gagik Tsarukyan and Samvel Alexanyan, two influential businessmen-politicians, who may have funded the Karabakh troops in Yerevan. -
