ArmInfo. Only the first stage of the velvet revolution has ended in Armenia. The leader of the winning "My Step" bloc, the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a press conference dedicated to the results of the early parliamentary elections held on December 9.
According to him, the revolution will not end until its main goals are achieved - turning Armenia into an economically powerful state, carrying out an active international policy, ensuring the rule of law, abandoning monopolies. One of the main issues of the agenda of the new authorities is the implementation of the economic revolution. Today, acting Prime Minister continued, this issue is gradually being resolved. "Our team is working on implementing the goals of the revolution, but if we fail to achieve the goal, the people will hand over the mandate to another political team," Nikol Pashinyan stressed. He disagreed with the opinion that the bloc had spent too much financial resources on the election campaign. "We used only a small part of the funds allocated to us according to the law. In total, 268 million drams were used, which means we can use another 240 million drams. Yes, in terms of volumes, we are leaders, but our stated amount corresponds to our real expenses," the acting Head of Armenian government said.
To note, according to the results of the elections, the "My Step" bloc received 70.43% of the votes, Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia parties won 8.37% and 6.37% of the votes, respectively. It is these three political forces that will enter the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The voting results have been summed up from all the 2010 polling stations. The current elections were characterized by low voter turnout, which amounted to 48.63% of voters, which is significantly lower than in the previous parliamentary elections in 2017, when more than 60% of voters came to the polls.
