ArmInfo. The Chief of the General Staff of Armenia, Artak Davtyan, does not see the need for the permanent demonstration of Iskander OTRK to society.
So, on November 22 during a meeting with students in Gyumri, answering the question that after buying these complexes from Russia, they were not presented to the society, were they involved in the exercises, would they be involved in the hostilities, the head of the RA General Staff assured that "Iskander" is not the only deterrent weapon that Armenia possesses. "We also have other types of weapons that will be presented in due time. Now is not the time for this, just as there is no time to talk about them," said Davtyan.
At the same time, he recalled that "Iskander" had been shown to the public at a parade on September 21 in its time, and there is no need to do it anymore. "As for the exercises, they are permanently held. Only this year, 4 exercises were conducted with the involvement of Iskanders," concluded Davtyan.
Recall that the self-propelled launchers of the Iskander-E operational tactical missile complex were first demonstrated on September 16, 2016 in Yerevan at a rehearsal for the military parade in honor of the 25th anniversary of Armenia's independence. The complexes were shipped from Russia as part of arms shipments received by Armenia on account of a state export credit provided by the Russian side in the amount of up to $ 200 million for the purchase of Russian weapons and military equipment. The agreement on granting the state export credit to the Government of the Republic of Armenia was signed on June 26, 2015. Thus, Armenia became the first recipient of the Iskander missile system after the Armed Forces of Russia.
