ArmInfo. The Armenian Parliament is discussing Nikol Pashinyan's candidacy as Prime Minister of Armenia. He is the only candidate, the Republican Party has already announced that it will vote against him.
Pashinyan himself said that his nomination is a formal procedure, and this is being done to ensure the norms of the Constitution. "My nomination as prime minister is formal. I have been nominated in order not to be elected. The meaning of the nomination is to ensure the legitimacy of the upcoming parliamentary elections, the exclusion of any legal gaps. Definitely and undoubtedly, in December there will be extraordinary parliamentary elections that will be final victory of the revolution, "Nikol Pashinyan said in his speech. He stressed that a revolution occurred in Armenia, and not just a change of power. This, in Pashinyan's opinion, is due to the fact that a real change in the social formation occurred in the republic. The change is that until April 2018 the dominant political force was represented by the criminal economic and political elite, which owned all the power. But after the revolution, the dominant political factor in Armenia, the decisive political force was the people who were able to force this political and economic elite to nominate a candidate supported by them for the post of Prime Minister, "Pashinyan said.
He stated that after the revolution, the new authorities of Armenia are forced to act in conditions of tough opposition from the old ones. "All our decisions are speculated by representatives of the former ruling regime, who, by influencing the media and certain public circles, are trying to create an atmosphere of discontent, but we know about all this and clearly say there will be no return to the old times. Not a single official involved in corruption and the bloodshed will remain unpunished, will not occupy a post in the new government, "Pashinyan assured. He also stressed that the March 1 case will be fully disclosed: "Let no one doubt this. I urge you to be psychologically prepared for the full scope of the case, because it will not be easy to find out everything that I am sure you will find out soon," he assured, promising in the near future new high-profile revelations. "In the near future, the public will find out about the loudest corruption case in the history of the Third Republic," he assured, saying that he means one of the MPs. "He must be arrested, but this requires only one piece of paper, which the investigation has not been able to receive for several months," Pashinyan explained. At the same time, the candidate for Prime Minister did not disclose the name of the MP, saying only that this case leads to many other criminal revelations. He reiterated that the funds stolen from the people must be returned fully. According to him, officials taking bribes today are inspired by those present in the hall of parliament who promise to take revenge. He added that lately there have been at least three attempts at revenge. "An attempt to consolidate around Robert Kocharyan, voting and the adoption of amendments to the Parliament's Regulations and the failure of voting on the Electoral Code," Nikol Pashinyan explained.
