ArmInfo.During the Francophonie summit, many heads of state were surprised by the fact of Nikol Pashinyan's resignation, since in a number of European countries resignation is regarded as a failure. This was stated on October 17 at a press conference by an international expert, former chairman of the parliamentary commission on foreign relations, Hovhannes Igityan.
He noted that in this case the whole matter is in the unsuccessful Constitution, inherited from the previous government by Pashinyan. "The fact is that Nikol Pashinyan wants to do everything exclusively within the law. This is a very important quality," the expert stressed.
The ex-chairman of the parliamentary commission on foreign relations noted that another question is whether the parliamentary factions will keep their promise and will not put forward their candidate for the post of prime minister. "One thing I can say with confidence is that the people will not tolerate deception and behind-the-scenes agreements. Therefore, I think, the parliamentary forces will have enough common sense not to nominate their candidate for this position. Otherwise, this political faction will be discredited," Igityan stressed. Nevertheless, I believe that during these 2 weeks one should not expect any extraordinary events in the country.
The expert noted that in foreign policy, after the revolution, the attitude towards Armenia has changed for the better. "Many international organizations, as well as numerous countries, note that Armenia is the country in which the bloodless revolution took place, and everything was carried out exclusively within the framework of the law," Igityan stressed.
Touching on the early elections, Igityan noted that political speculations about their haste were groundless. "All political forces since the beginning of May knew that this process was inevitable, and we should start preparing for it. Therefore, I consider such criticism unreasonable," the former chairman of the parliamentary commission on foreign relations said.
As for the statements that the draft reform of the Electoral Code is incomplete and not sent to the Venice Commission for consideration, according to Igityan, the commission considered the document and did not express objections.
Predicting the composition of the future parliament, the expert noted that the force headed by Pashinyan would take the majority. According to him, Prosperous Armenia and ARF Dashnaktsutyun may also appear in the parliament. But the RPA, according to his forecast, most likely will not enter the parliament and like the communists and the ANM will sink into oblivion. "All these political forces had the opportunity to build a new country, however, they did not use it. I know that now the RPA has a point of view that it is necessary to participate in the elections with a list of figures who remained" clean "and were not implicated - or a corruption scandal. However, representatives of the party do not give an answer to the main question, they have repeatedly stated that they have 850,000 votes. And where are these voices now? It becomes obvious that they were collected by bribes, using administrative resources and using the army. But I true that all this is in the past, and no further violations in the elections will not be ", Igityan said.
