ArmInfo. We must respect all contracts concluded and respect the law, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan said this in an interview with journalists today, answering a question regarding the transport system and the owners of the route lines.
"If the terms of the contract are violated and our citizens suffer from this, then they will naturally be revised. We will act exclusively in the interests of our citizens. Since the British company operating in this field has compiled a program, and for its implementation significant amounts have been allocated from the budget, then this program needs to be studied. We would like to understand whether it meets the requirements of the residents of Yerevan and whether it contains corruption risks. Then, if we find out that all of this corresponds to our requirements we will implement it, "said Marutyan, stressing that if this program does not meet the requirement, an alternative program will be offered. Marutyan noted that he will definitely organize an audit to assess the situation in the capital's municipality. "If some contracts concluded under the previous administration do not comply with the law, then we recognize them as invalid. As for the construction works that are carried out behind the Myasnikyan monument, then, as Marutyan noted, if there are corruption risks or other offenses, then these agreements after the trial will be declared invalid. Everything should be carried out strictly within the law ", - said the Mayor. "We will hold referendums and polls on the most acute issues so that it is the residents of the capital who can dictate their conditions," the new mayor emphasized.
Marutyan also noted that he does not exclude the replacement of heads of some administrative districts of the capital, stressing that the bloc has candidates for these positions. "We don't consider the heads of districts as representatives of parties. The most important thing for us is the professional qualities of people, but some people still should be replaced. However, I want to emphasize once again that if these people are professionals and are ready to serve the residents of Yerevan, then we shouldn't deprive them of this opportunity, "the Mayor concluded.
To note, the heads of the administrative districts of Arabkir and Erebuni have resigned.
