ArmInfo. Germany is ready to assist in establishing a favorable atmosphere for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced on August 24 at a press conference in Yerevan.
The Chancellor recalled that Germany is a member of the OSCE Minsk Group. According to her, it is very important to resolve the Karabakh problem in a good environment, and in this issue Germany will render assistance to Armenia.
Angela Merkel also touched upon the inclusion of the German Bundestag MP in the "black list" by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry for visiting Nagorno-Karabakh, as a result of which his entry visa was denied. "The visit was important for us so we decided that the visit will be carried out by another MP, a member of the Germany-South Caucasus parliamentary group," she said.
Merkel said that German authorities came to this decision, understanding that any issue or conflict can be resolved only through negotiations. "It was important for us that the visit takes place, since time does not wait, and we must make efforts to resolve this conflict," Merkel said.
