ArmInfo. The Armenian Special Investigation Service (SIS) explained why only the day before it announced the conduct of searches in the mansion and office of the 2nd President Robert Kocharian.
In explanation of the investigative body, in particular, it says: "Without attaching importance to the fact that on August 6, 2018, searches were conducted in Robert Kocharyan's mansion and office, the Special Investigative Service of Armenia did not spread an official message about this. But, taking into account the numerous requests received on August 20, 2018 from representatives of the media, the Special Investigative Service just confirmed the fact of searches in the specified places, conducted in the framework of the criminal case on the events of March 1. " The press secretary of the Armenian Special Investigation Service (SIS), Marina Ohanjanyan, reported that on March 1, 2008, searches were conducted in the mansion and office of the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan. The press secretary of the SIS also noted that in the interests of the investigation at the moment she cannot provide other details.
This was followed by the reaction of the head of the Kocharyan office Victor Soghomonyan who stated that the searches in the mansion and office of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharian were held 2-3 weeks ago. "It's unclear why, but right now they decided to distribute this information. And for what purpose it was done, I'll leave it to the reader's imagination, "Soghomonyan said, adding that the search in the office was held in the office of the second president of Armenia.
It is noteworthy that it was yesterday, on August 20, the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office appealed against the decision of the Court of Appeal to release former Armenian President Robert Kocharian from arrest in the Court of Cassation. As SIS head Sasun Khachatryan stated earlier, if the Court of Cassation suddenly decides that Robert Kocharyan is not subject to criminal prosecution taking into account his presidential status, which, according to him, is absurd, since a person can not have absolute immunity in connection with his office, consideration of the matter will go to the next level - to the Constitutional Court. One of the lawyers of Robert Kocharyan, Hayk Alumyan, said that if the Court of Cassation of Armenia decides to re-arrest the second president, they will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
