ArmInfo. Former Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan was dismissed by the decision of the Armenian government from the post of the head of the Board of Trustees of the Fund for the Insurance of Military Servicemen.
At today's meeting, the government decided to appoint the current Defense Minister David Tonoyan to this post.
The "Soldiers Insurance" fund was created with the aim of providing material support to families of servicemen, fallen and wounded heroes defending the borders of the Motherland. The Fund will give an opportunity to servicemen who were wounded during the fighting, during rehabilitation, to concentrate on drawing up the program for the future, feeling the constant and consistent support from the state and the public. Families of the deceased and those who received the disability of the first group will receive a one- time insurance payment of 10 million AMD (about $ 21,000).
Those who received disability of the second group will receive a one-time insurance payment in the amount of 5 million AMD (about $ 10,000).
In case of death or receipt of the first group of disability, the monthly insurance payment will be 300 thousand AMD for officers, 250 thousand AMD for sergeants and 200 thousand drams for privates. In case of disability of the second group, these payments will be 250, 200 and 150 thousand drams correspondingly. This amount will be paid as a social payment for 20 years, making up 82 million AMD for the officers, 70 million AMD for the sergeants and 48 million drams for the rank-and-file officers.
In the situation of the disabled, in the event of an effective fund operation and the availability of financial resources, the foundation's board will be able, in 20 years, to decide on ensuring the duration of these payments. Otherwise, after 20 years the disabled soldiers will receive social security benefits in the amount that will be established by the state at that time.
The program will be financed from a special fund, in which every working citizen will remit 1000 drams every month. The fund will also collect donations. The collected funds will be used exclusively for social payments. A council of the program will be formed, consisting of persons who enjoy the trust and respect of society, which will control this completely transparent and public process.
