ArmInfo. On June 12, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly Armen Ashotyan met with the delegation led by the chairman of the Polish-Armenian parliamentary group of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Tadeusz Wozniak.
According to the press service of the Parliament, Ashotyan stressed that the Armenian-Polish relations have traditionally been at a high level and the history of cooperation has lasted for centuries. Turning to the communities of the two peoples, he noted the warmest feelings of Armenians towards the Polish people. According to Ashotyan, under the conditions of parliamentary government, the role of the commission in the context of parliamentary diplomacy has significantly increased. He stressed the need to hold joint meetings of the foreign policy commissions of the National Assembly of Armenia and the Senate of Poland. Touching upon the problems of ensuring security, Ashotyan noted that, unlike Europe, which saw many wars and cost millions of people's lives, today formed an atmosphere of harmony and peace, Armenians who also paid dearly for a free and independent life in the region have still not reached a stable and peaceful ultimate goal. The provision of Armenia's security, in the opinion of the chairman of the commission, is higher than internal political developments. He expressed the hope that the Polish side at the inter-parliamentary platforms will best represent the Armenian interests.
Ashotyan highly appreciated the development and deepening of Armenia's cooperation with the EU member states, including Poland. Turning to the RA-EU comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement, he stressed the importance of its implementation. According to the chairman of the commission, in the process of carrying out reforms in various spheres, the Polish successful experience may prove attractive for Armenia.
In turn, Tadeusz Vozhniak stressed that Poland is a friendly country, ready to be close to Armenia in the implementation of all initiatives, including the implementation of the RA-EU Agreement. The parliamentarian noted the need for steps to ensure both external and internal security. He assured that Poland is ready to assist Armenia on various international platforms, as well as in developing relations with individual EU member states.
