ArmInfo.The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia disclosed two cases of violations and abuses that are currently sent to the National Security Service. This was in an interview with journalists, Emergencies Minister Hrachya Rostomyan said.
Meanwhile, the head of the National Security Service Arthur Vanetsyan today in parliament stressed that in the near future the National Security Service will cease to deal with economic crimes, except for especially important ones. "In the rest of the case, the tax authorities and the Police should deal with economic crimes," he said.
At the same time, Vanetsyan assured that the NSS does not aim to start a wave of repression and arrests. "We just want to put people on the right path, if the violations they committed did not cause particularly serious damage to the state and society," Vanetsian explained. Concerning the sensational violations in the activity of Armenian supermarkets, who bought agricultural products and meat under the guise of private entrepreneurs, thereby instead of paying 20% of the value added tax by paying a turnover tax of 2%, Vanetsyan said that within the framework of this case the deputy head of the State Revenue Committee, Rafik Mashadyan : "As he was present at the negotiations, during which the SRC gave supermarket owners such a privilege." He also reported on the shortage of personnel in the National Security Service, which is due to low salaries in the structure. "That is why, during the discussion of the draft budget of 2018, I intend to raise the issue of a substantial increase in the salaries of NSS officers, I'm talking about not a nominal, but a significant increase," Vanetsyan said.
To note, NSS allocated 20.5 billion AMD for the budget of 2017, of which 19.6 billion AMD were spent.
