ArmInfo. The events that took place in Armenia and led to the change of government are extremely important for the Armenian people, since they open an entirely new page from the point of view of your country's democratic development, "the well-known Georgian and Ukrainian political figure the leader of the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (2007-2012), the head of the National Police of Ukraine (2015 - 2016) Khatia Dekanoidze told ArmInfo correspondent in the fields of the XV Eurasian Media Forum
Dekanoidze highly appreciated the level of the nationwide movement in Armenia: "I was constantly following the developments, I was pleasantly surprised at how many people took to the streets with peaceful protest actions, and how sincerely and organized people wanted changes in the country." The politician noted the extremely important role of Nikol Pashinyan as the leader of the movement, "who showed what the modern world is, showed how a simple person is able to consolidate people around him, showed how to talk with people, listen to them, communicate with them." "Pashinyan and his team embody the new model of modern politics. And I very much hope that all the dream of the Armenian people will come true, that's why your people really deserve it, "Dekanoidze noted.
As the former head of the police structures of Georgia and Ukraine, Dekanoidze, speaking about the need to clean the Augean stables of crime and corruption, advised the new government to constantly listen to the voice of the people who want to eradicate corruption.
The interlocutor supported the measures of Nikol Pashinyan to change the key chiefs of law enforcement agencies, advising also to consider the possibility of increasing the monetary allowance for the police. But the most important, she said, is to make it so that the law enforcement system is perceived by people as a service structure, as a structure that does not protect someone but protects and services people. And it's wonderful that the new government of Armenia has such an approach to the police's public mission, "the politician noted.
As Dekanoidze noted, Pashinyan and his team are people of a new formation, "they sincerely want to change something, they want to be honest and transparent and therefore they will succeed." To recall, Khatiya Dekanoidze joined the team of Mikhail Saakashvili when she was only 24 years old. The girl then headed the administration of the Security Council of Georgia, then managed to work as a minister of education, and also led the police academy. Khatia introduced a new reform in the Interior Ministry of Georgia, eliminating first of all long-term training in the police academy and replaced them with training in law, tactics and shooting. Instead of "parquet" generals, Dekanoidze recruited foreign specialists into the teachers. After that, as the politician admitted, schoolchildren of Georgia began to dream about working in the police, and not about the status of a "thief-in-law". To note, Emanuel Dupuy, President of the Institute for Prospects and Security in Europe (France), paid special attention to the genesis of the "velvet revolution" in Armenia, calling it an excellent manifestation of real democratic processes in the country. He wished the Armenian people prosperity and confidence in the new institutions of power.
