ArmInfo. Through joint efforts over the past 26 years, ties between Russia and Armenia have been brought to a new qualitative level of allied interaction. This is stated in the statement of the Russian embassy in Armenia, circulated on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Yerevan and Moscow.
"On April 3, 2018, the 26th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Armenia, Russia and Armenia have been linked for centuries by strong traditions of friendship, mutual respect, trust and support. The diplomatic mission also recalls that Russia is Armenia's leading economic partner and the main investor in the Armenian economy. "Major joint projects in the fuel, energy, mining, transport, telecommunications, banking and other fields are successfully implemented in the republic, interregional ties are expanding, involving 70 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and all administrative and territorial units of Armenia. An intergovernmental cooperation program is being implemented in this area for 2016-2021. Traditionally, an important place in bilateral relations is occupied by cultural, humanitarian, scientific and educational exchanges that promote preservation and strengthening of spiritual closeness of the peoples of the two countries, close communication between people.In 2015, a branch of the Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov began to operate in Yerevan.In the Russian-Armenian University and 6 branches of Russian universities operating in the republic, about 3.5 thousands of students, 5,500 Armenian citizens are being trained at Russian universities, 1,500 of them are financed by the Russian federal budget.
