ArmInfo. "The process of decreasing the birth rate in Armenia is an inevitable phenomenon," said demographer Ruben Yeganyan, responding to the question of ArmInfo correspondent during a March 19 press conference.
According to him, the process of decreasing the birth rate in Armenia continues.
At the same time, the demographer noted that today the birth rate exceeds the death rate by 12 thousand, but, according to Yeganian, this is a temporary phenomenon. "In the coming years, the situation will worsen and the natural population growth will slow down," the expert said.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in 2017 37.7 thousand children were born in Armenia, which is less than the annual indicator by 7.1%. At the same time, the number of deaths decreased by 3% to 27.4 thousand citizens. The natural increase in the Armenian population was 10.3 thousand people, with an annual decline of 16.4%.
