ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is on a working visit in Geneva, met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al- Hussein.
As the Ministry's press service told ArmInfo, al-Hussein highly appreciated Armenia's consistent efforts to protect human rights and welcomed Yerevan's steps aimed at preventing new genocides.
Nalbandian presented to the High Commissioner a new resolution on the Prevention of Genocide, initiated by Armenia at the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
The agenda of the meeting was also the process of Constitutional reforms in Armenia and the transition proceeding from it to the parliamentary form of government.
Nalbandian reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to further strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, the reform of the judicial system, effective governance in the country and the continuation of the reform process, relying on the assistance of partners, including the UN.
The sides touched upon the situation in the Middle East and the problems of migration. In this regard, al- Hussein positively assessed the attempts of Armenia to implement projects on the adoption and integration of refugees.
