ArmInfo.Armenia plans to ratify the agreement with the European Union on a Comprehensive and Expanded Partnership as soon as possible. This was stated by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan during the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Estonia to Armenia Kai Kaarelson.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, thanking the Estonian side for supporting the signing of this agreement, Karen Karapetyan pointed to the importance of development and expansion of the Armenian-Estonian relations. He recalled that he had discussed this issue in detail with the Estonian delegation at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The head of the Armenian government especially stressed the need to expand bilateral economic cooperation, increase the volume of trade turnover, organize and conduct business forums. Karen Karapetyan stressed that for the Estonian business Armenia can be interesting for entering the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran.
In turn, the Estonian diplomat noted the importance of developing economic cooperation and expressed his readiness to contribute to the implementation of appropriate measures. He stressed that Estonia is also interested in expanding and deepening relations with Armenia. The meeting also discussed issues related to the exchange of Estonia's experience on the digital agenda of Armenia. Let us recall that Estonia became the first EU country to ratify the framework agreement on the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia. According to the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Estonia has completed all the necessary procedures for the entry into force of the agreement signed between the EU and Armenia, which was informed by the country's foreign affairs department. Note that the procedure for the ratification of such agreements in Estonia is not conducted by the parliament, but by the government of the country in a facilitated regime. The EU-Armenia Framework Agreement was signed on November 24, 2017 in Brussels during the Eastern Partnership Summit.
