Striking students are going to spend tonight at the building of YSU

ArmInfo. Students protesting against the bill to cancel the deferment of compulsory military service, today held a protest near the building of the National Assembly of Armenia.

They issued a statement that they would continue the strike to  restore their rights. After the meeting of the National Assembly was  completed, the students returned to the building of the Yerevan State  University and stated that they would spend the night there, because  they feared that their comrades who had declared a hunger strike  could try to force them to leave the audience they had occupied.  Students called upon fellow citizens to join them after work.

In turn, YSU Rector Aram Simonyan urged students who went on hunger  strike not to resort to illegal actions and immediately to vacate the  premises in order not to interfere with the educational process.

Note that this morning 5 students (four of them have already served  in the army) went on a hunger strike in protest against the bill to  cancel the postponement of compulsory military service. They are on  hunger strike in one of the auditoriums of Yerevan State University.
