ArmInfo.Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and owner of the Tashir Group concern Samvel Karapetyan agreed that in April 2018, after the expiration of President Serzh Sargsyan's presidential term, Karen Karapetyan will relinquish his post to him.
As the "Hraparak" newspaper writes with reference to its sources, Karen and Samvel Karapetyan decided after long consultations that it would be better not to take the current prime minister the cargo of the Karabakh talks and security issues to themselves (after full transition in the spring of 2018 of Armenia to the parliamentary form of government, these obligations are entrusted to the premiere ed.). The Prime Minister and the businessman realized, according to the sources of the newspaper, that these issues should be decided by Serzh Sargsyan and after the end of his presidential term as prime minister. According to the reached agreement, Karen Karapetyan himself will propose Serzh Sargsyan to become prime minister. Meanwhile, a few days ago at a press conference Karen Karapetyan said that there had been no discussions within the authorities regarding the candidacy of the future prime minister and the government's arrangement, and therefore there were no agreements. Speaking about his future plans, the premier said that he wants to serve the Motherland, and he is confident that the future will be "good" and "we will change the world." He also positively assessed the government's activities for 2017 under his leadership: "Economic indicators show that in almost all areas there has been progress, and mistakes were much less than successes."
Earlier, President Serzh Sargsyan promised that if he adopted constitutional reforms, he would not claim the post of prime minister of the country after his presidential term in April 2018.
