ArmInfo.President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, discussed prospects for the development of cooperation between the two countries in the military-technical field.
As the press service of the Belarusian leader told ArmInfo, Lukashenka noted that Belarus and Azerbaijan continue cooperation, including in the military-technical sphere. "I do not want to justify to anybody the nature of our cooperation, I just want to say one thing that our relations are in no way violated by any international treaty, not one resolution of the Security Council and the United Nations as a whole. We are a sovereign independent state, and we has the right to determine those areas of cooperation that correspond to the spirit of the times, the requests of our states," the Belarusian leader said.
The President also stressed the fraternal character of relations between the peoples of the two countries. "We were in one country, we have no complaints against Azerbaijanis at all, and, most importantly, I remember well that in difficult times your president has always put a shoulder to the Belarusian state, we all remember it very well and are ready - if we do something, we can do it for Azerbaijan - it is done to ensure that your people live in safety, the state develops, and Azerbaijan and its people were prosperous, so that the incomes of the population would grow and that the Azerbaijanis would be even richer. And, naturally, that Azerbaijan feels itself exactly the way Belarus is - calmly, reliably, it is necessary to strengthen the defense. Nothing new. That is why we are working with you in this plan and will continue to work," he added.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani media reported, Hasanov noted that there are good projects and cooperation in the military-technical field. "All this does not contradict international laws. I declare with full responsibility that the equipment we received through high-quality military technical cooperation has been successfully applied in the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. And this gives us an opportunity to continue and even expand cooperation, we are committed to this," concluded the Azeri minister.
