ArmInfo. Anti-Russian and anti-eurasian sentiments in Armenia are of an ordered character, according to monitoring conducted by the club "Glas Naroda" on the topic "Monitoring: Armenia's Participation in the EEU in the Context of Covering Armenian Digital Media".
As the member of the club Arman Gukasyan told Arminfo, expert of the club, noted that 6 Armenian digital mass media were monitored, who most actively covered anti-Eurasian and anti-Russian positions of various public and political figures. "The monitoring we conducted was aimed at studying the content of some information resources for the months of June and September, when the issue of the need for Armenia's withdrawal from the EEU was actively discussed." It can be noted that during this period, the supply of negative information about Russian- Armenian relations, Armenia's participation in the EEU and the CSTO, these information flows in places contained misinformation, and also one-sidedness. Over the past three months, the resources we studied did not illuminate at least one positive new tee on the participation of Armenia in the EEU, indicating customized anti-Russian activities of these media," said Ghukasyan.
At the same time, he stressed that many pro-Western information websites of Armenia have foreign funding, whose goal is to discredit the Eurasian course of Armenia and Russian-Armenian relations. "The pro-Western Armenian sites present only the views and comments of the EU supporters to the target audience and do not provide a platform for supporters of Eurasian integration, thus these sites are the bearers of one-sided and biased information, In addition, the overwhelming majority of negative information with elements of disinformation comes from Russia, the CSTO The information resources link all the problems of Armenia with the Unified Energy System and Russia and keep silent about the advantages of the country joining this integration bloc. Substitution of meanings, when the EEU as an economic union is presented to the public as a structure that should resolve the Karabakh conflict, and its unresolved, is allegedly the result of a lack of desire among the EEU member countries. Armenia's benefits in the EEU are intentionally ignored: export growth for the last 5 months (21 %), growth in trade turnover (12.8%), real expectations of economic growth before the end of the year (from 2.5 to 3.4%)," said the member of the club "Glas Naroda".
At the same time, Ghukasyan stated that nothing is said about the real geopolitical and socio-economic consequences in the event of Armenia withdrawing from the union. In his words, given the fact that Russia is Armenia's most important strategic ally, as well as the main trade and economic partner, and the Armenian economy is closely intertwined with Russia, any radical reversals in the republic's foreign policy can create serious problems not only in the issue of economic stability, but also in matters of security in the region.
He also said that the club is preparing a list of those social and political figures who recently actively come up with ideas about the need for Armenia to withdraw from the EEU and do it on order from the outside. The list, according to Ghukasyan, will be announced shortly, along with evidence and facts about the customized activities of these individuals.
Earlier, the parliamentary bloc "Elk" initiated the process of Armenia's withdrawal from the EEU. Meanwhile, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov stressed that Armenia does not intend to leave the EEU.
