Vazgen Manukyan: the people who did not serve in the army, are not  eligible to get higher states posts

ArmInfo. The person who evaded military service or whose sons did not serve in the Armenian Armed Forces should not have the right to hold a high public office.   This was stated by the head of the Public Council of Armenia Vazgen  Manukyan at the 6th forum of Armenia-Diaspora.

Speaking about the modernization of the Armenian Armed Forces,  Manukyan said that during the April war he felt pain from the fact  that in terms of weapons the Azerbaijani army is superior to the  Armenian one. "It is necessary to solve this problem, and now steps  are being taken in this direction," he assured.

Referring to the  concept of Army-Nation, Manukyan as a whole  expressed satisfaction with its provisions, stressing, however, that  it is impossible to develop programs from above and impose them on  the people.  "It is necessary to make these programs acceptable to  the society," he noted.

Manukyan also stressed the need to establish cooperation between the  army and border areas to stimulate their development. "For example,  the Armenian armed forces should help establish enterprises in the  border areas that will produce products for the needs of the army,"  explained the head of the public council.

Referring to the  global geopolitical issues, he noted that those  nations that in the current unstable situation in the world will not  be able to create new security guarantees will be destroyed. "In view  of this, the Armenian people should consolidate especially against  the backdrop of the presence of the Karabakh problem, the Turkish  threat and mass emigration," he said.  Referring to the issues of  emigration, Manukyan stressed that it is impossible to resist the new  global threats with three million. "It is necessary to organize a new  interaction between Armenia and Diaspora.  Today in the world,  competition between states has increased. To confront new challenges,  it is necessary to consolidate. There are new problems, both for the  Diaspora, and for the people and authorities of Armenia. However,  everyone should bear an equal share of responsibility. It should not  be that one layer of society bears the entire burden on itself, the  other only enjoys the fruits of his labors, "Manukyan said.
